What I'm Watching - May 2023

This post is a pretty chill one. Just talking about what I'm watching.

The long and short of it is probably too much. There's a lot of good stuff out there. Too much for me to watch everything I want to watch, but enough for a relaxing sit down from time to time.

I thought The Mandalorian Season 3 was solid. It wasn't the best season out there, but I enjoyed it a good bit. I was surprised that I liked the Bad Batch Season 2 more than the Mandalorian Season 3, but that's just a testament to the Star Wars animation team and their stellar work from The Clone Wars to Rebels and now to Bad Batch.

Also words can't describe how excited I am for Rebels Season 5 aka Ahsoka Season 1.

Finally gave Ted Lasso a shot as well. I really enjoyed Season One and am looking forward to the following seasons.

I still got to finish Ancient Apocalypse with Graham Hancock, Stranger Things Season 4 (2 episodes left), and finish both Vinland Saga Season 1 and Demon Slayer's Mugen Train and Red-Light District Arcs. Got a lot coming up and this isn't even mentioning the shows I need to start (You Season 4, Avatar the Last Airbender re-watch, My Hero Academia Season 6 Part 2, Chernobyl, and more!)

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 and John Wick 4 were awesome. John Wick 4 felt like one big action scene after the next, but the newest Guardians movie had the emotional punch I love so much in movies.

Although, hopefully this isn't because I'm getting old at the grand age of twenty-nine, but I was surprised at how loud the IMAX was in Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3. It took me out of the movie several times and I don't know if it was the medium as a whole or just some bad luck. Ultimately, maybe this means that IMAX just might not be for me, but I'm glad there are people out there who enjoy it.

However, even with the crazy loud IMAX, Guardians 3 is probably the best thing I've watched out of the batch. I've always got to sit on the James Gunn films after I've immediately seen them, but as more time passes, I enjoy them more and more. And Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 is no exception.

I know everyone has an opinion these days, and mine's only worth what consideration those out in the ether are willing to give me, but hot damn, if you're looking for a nice movie to watch with intense emotion, sad times, good times, and a nice ending to a three-film saga, you can't go wrong with Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3.

Ultimately, maybe I'll do a deep dive on one of the shows I'm currently watching or a state of Star Wars type thing, but for now, this post is doing me the service of keeping track of everything I'm watching. With so much stuff airing, coming out, and being made, it's easy to get lost out here.

Anyways, that's all I got for today, thank you for your time, and I hope you all have a great day!

Sincerely,

Josh Acocella

Death in Fiction

Endings are so final. It's odd. Death in fiction. The death of a story. I had a good two weeks. Finally finished a really long chapter...
